Booster Pump Systems

With Modbus control of softstart starters and VFDs

The Pump Commander BP in our PT Type Booster Pump Control systems includes a Modbus port that we use to control and monitor the functions of the VFDs or Soft-start starters in our systems. This provides several strong advantages over "hard wiring" the PLC to the drives.

Reduced wiring. These functions are handled over the Modbus connection:

  • Speed reference signal

  • Run status

  • Alarm status

  • Run command

Parameter monitoring and display. The Modbus connection allows us to display a number of useful variables on the Pump Commander screen, such as:

  • Motor speed

  • Motor amps

  • Volts

  • Torque

  • Drive temperature

  • Drive fault messages

SCADA connections. Many SCADA systems can connect to Modbus. Once connected, all of the system parameters can be sent over the Modbus network. Our Pump Commander can be a Modbus master or slave.
